Children's Mattresses FAQs

Do All the Beds Come With a Mattress?

All of our beds have the option to upgrade to include a children's mattress. Each bed has a range of compatible mattresses available to them. Alternatively you can opt to buy just a mattress on its own.

Are All the Mattresses the Same Size?

If you are looking for a mattress for a cabin bed, mid sleeper bed, high sleeper bed or top bunk bed, then you will need to be aware of the mattress depth. Mattresses for these types of beds need to conform to UK safety regulations. We also have a range of junior single mattresses which are slightly narrower than a standard single mattress. Children's Bed Shop also stock a range of European single mattresses which are slightly longer than UK versions. You can contact our experts today if you need any help whatsoever with your next mattress purchase.

How Often Should a Mattresses be Replaced?

Your child will need several mattresses as they grow from using a cot to kid's beds. A cot mattress can sometimes be used on a toddler's bed, provided that it fits securely into the frame. By the time your child is around 6, however, they'll probably move into a single bed. Adding a mattress topper can help to extend a mattress' life but it will typically need replacing after 6-8 years.

What Mattresses are Available?

The Children's Bed Shop has a wide range of mattresses to suit every age, bed, and type of sleeper. Traditional open-sprung and pocket-sprung mattress varieties offer support and usually have a top layer of foam for extra comfort. Memory foam mattresses, on the other hand, are great for restless sleepers and can reduce how often little ones wake up in the night, while latex mattresses are helpful in regulating body temperature so are ideal for kids who prefer to be cooler at bedtime.
