Loft Beds

If space is an issue in the room, or you just want to create a lot of clear floor space for your child to play in, then a loft bed could be just the answer. Typically, taller than a cabin bed, a children’s loft bed is designed to give storage or play space underneath. You may also choose to position a desk, wardrobe or drawers, making the maximum use of the space under your single loft bed to free up the rest of the room for other activities.

Broadly speaking, your loft bed can come in one of three heights; a high loft which gives the maximum amount of space underneath, a mid-loft which usually contains storage underneath, and a low loft which is ideal for spaces where the ceiling height is lower. Loft beds are accessed via a ladder and will have a frame that stand proud of the mattress to make sure there is no danger of falling out during the night. For safety reasons, High beds like these are not suitable for children under six years.

Kids Loft Beds FAQs

Is a Loft Bed a Good Idea?

If space is an issue in your room then a Loft Bed is a great space saver for your child to play in. Loft beds are taller than a cabin bed which is designed to give storage space underneath.

What Can I Fit Under a Loft Bed?

Loft beds have enough space to fit furniture underneath, which may include a desk, chest of drawers, or bookcase. Some of our loft beds are big enough to fit a sofa or additional bed frame underneath which will allow your child to relax and/or have friends over to stay.

What Age is a Loft Bed For?

This entirely depends on the individual child and your particular bedroom setup but it's generally recommended that loft beds are suitable for children aged 6 and up. However, it's important to assess whether your child will be able to safely manage a ladder or steps. Many of our beds come with wide steps to make getting in and out of bed simple. They can also be accessorised with glow in the dark strips for extra safety.

Are Loft Beds Dangerous?

Loft beds are a completely safe option, but are not recommended for children below six. All of the loft and high sleeper beds on our site fully conform to safety regulations and are made from quality materials. They come in a range of styles so it's easy to choose the right bed for your child's needs.
